We are now reviewing the series of 38 Dr. Bach flowers. This article is about # 2 – Aspen.
I take this opportunity to include in the introduction a comment from Dr. Laure Martinat, author of the Reference Guide on Bach Flowers, tutor at the CMDQ:
“You can only take good care of Bach flowers if you are trained in it. Some naturopaths are and use them while others do not. It is in my opinion a very good approach for the psycho-emotional sphere. . Untrained naturopaths can refer clients to other practitioners. There are practitioners trained only in Bach flowers. “
Let’s continue our article series with flower # 2: Aspen. We saw the Agrimony flower not long ago. It is therefore understood that the series of flowers follows the alphabetical order of the name of the flower. The first two begin with an “A”. Who said that alternative medicine is difficult?
Remedy for Fear?
Aspen is the remedy for all fear whose cause cannot be named. On one end of the spectrum, the fear of Aspen can be nothing more than a sense of apprehension, a
uncomfortable anxiety that something unpleasant or scary is going to happen. On the other hand, it can be a real dread, with physical symptoms such as standing hair.
Sometimes people see Aspen as a nocturnal fear, related to dreams and night terrors. Aspen would definitely be the right medicine if you were awake in the dark scared of something (not knowing what it was.)
Description of Dr. Bach
Dr Bach stated that fear of the dark is fear of Mimulus since the cause (darkness) can be named. Aspen’s unnamed fears are just as likely to occur in bright sunlight as they are on a pitch black night.
Vague unknown fears, for which we can give no explanation, no reason. Yet the patient may be terrified that something terrible is going to happen (he doesn’t know what). These vague, inexplicable fears can haunt night or day. Patients are often afraid to tell others about their problem.
The development of Love brings us to the realization of Oneness: the truth that we are all of the Great Creation. The cause of all our problems is self and separation. It disappears as soon as Love and the knowledge of the great Unity are part of our nature. [Bach]
I bet you you won’t find this beautiful poetry in college medical classes, even at Harvard!
