A recent study from a Japanese team of doctors showed that when a subject got measles and mumps as a child, he/she had much less chance of suffering from a heart attack or a stroke later in life. The numbers are as follows: for men, they suffered 29% less heart attacks and 17% less strokes when they had measles and mumps as children and for women its 17% less cardio-vascular disease and 21% less stroke. Its the first time a study shows the positive impact an infection can have on cardio-vascular diseases. Bottom line: the more infections, the less chance of dying from a cardio-vascular disease.
