Letter from the director
On behalf of the Alternative Medicine College of Canada, I welcome you. We know our students have both the desire to learn and the desire to help others.
These two activities, learning and helping go hand in hand. Through my acupuncture and homeopathy practice, I learned that the desire to heal and intuition were not enough. I needed knowledge as well. With knowledge, we as practitioners are able to create realistic goals, discover what works, and realize when a more specialized field of practice is required. When we understand our scope of practice, we don’t hesitate to refer patients to traditional doctors when their problem is about injury, not function.
This is exactly the message I wanted to convey when I created the Alternative Medicine College of Canada 25 years ago. I have always wanted to work in collaboration with Western medicine, and have our methods considered as as complementary to theirs. We believe Western medicine should be left to MDs, and alternative medicine should be left to natural health practitioners, whose training more human-focused Currently, many of our students, just like our teachers and tutors, are doctors, researchers and scientists. Today, we celebrate the scientific world’s clear interest in our empirical methods.
When I was first starting out, I never thought AMCC would become a school with a degree program of program of 4500 hours! Now, I can thank my students past and present for allowing us to bring you 25 years of quality education. We are dedicated to our mission of maintaining the quality of our courses, and being completely available to each and every one you. Never hesitate to contact me personally.
