A study published June 17th 2015 by the San Francisco State University explains why some people do not use Complementary and Alternative Medicines (CAM). A lot a people are simply not aware of it! Why? Researchers explain two mains factors: lack of education and lack of means. People with a college degree and more income were a lot more likely to know about CAM practices than those who didn’t have a degree or a lot of money. It’s not the first study, as researchers point out, to link low health literacy with low level of education. The research concludes: These results suggest that if individuals with health concerns, such as low back pain, knew about clinically appropriate complementary therapies they might use them.
